Barcelona Set to Play First Match at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in La Liga 30 months following their departure so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Recent Activities
Barcelona held a public practice inside the stadium in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
